Pain is incredibly multi-dimensional and complex with roots in almost every aspect of our daily lives, from physical catalysts to emotional and mental stressors.

Pain Myths

Pain is created in the nerves of the body and sent to the brain as “pain signals or messages”.

The brain receives the “pain signal” and then creates a mechanical reaction.

Pain is a response to tissue damage.

Chronic pain is an ongoing response to ongoing tissue/chemical damage.

Pain Facts

The brain absorbs information, perceives its threat level, and responds accordingly by muting the stimulus, (ie: no pain) or exaggerating the stimulus (ie: lots of pain)

Pain is a response in relationship to the perceived threat associated to the stimulus. The greater the threat, the greater the response and vice versa.

Chronic pain rarely continues to half any tissue/chemical damage creating a stimulus.
