The Kinesio® Taping Method is a globally recognized therapeutic technique grounded in anatomy, physiology, and clinical evidence. Developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase, DC, this method utilizes Kinesio® Tex Tape — a specially formulated elastic therapeutic tape — to gently lift the skin at a microscopic level, facilitating the body's innate healing mechanisms. Unlike rigid or conventional taping approaches, Kinesio Tape is non-restrictive, preserving full range of motion while addressing pain, inflammation, lymphatic flow, and neuromuscular dysfunction across a wide spectrum of clinical presentations.

The Kinesio® Foundations course is a hybrid program integrating fundamental taping concepts with advanced techniques and clinical reasoning. Delivered over an 8-hour, two-day in-person seminar — preceded by a required 4-hour online pre-course — participants will engage with assessment-driven protocols, hands-on laboratory sessions, and complex case studies involving musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, and neurological conditions. This course is appropriate for a broad range of licensed and credentialed healthcare professionals seeking to integrate an evidence-informed taping method into their clinical practice.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe and demonstrate cutting at least four different Kinesio Taping application shapes, including I Strip, Y Strip, Web Cut, and X Cut

  • Identify clinical situations in which specific tape cuts are most appropriate

  • Demonstrate the appropriate use of Kinesio Medical Taping (KMT), Epidermis Dermis Fascia (EDF) technique, and Kinesio Assessments

  • Apply Kinesio Screening Assessments to identify target tissue for treatment

  • Demonstrate proper application of Kinesio Epidermis, Dermis, and Fascia Taping techniques

  • Apply corrective techniques including Fascia, Mechanical, Space, Functional, Lymphatic, Tendon, Ligament, and Muscle Correction

  • Identify appropriate tension ranges for each corrective technique

  • Demonstrate advanced Space Correction techniques, including Scar Management

  • Integrate Muscle Direction Tests, Screening Assessments, and Corrective Techniques to address complex conditions such as Whiplash, Shoulder Impingement, and Chronic Knee Pain

  • Apply the Kinesio Medical Taping method to a variety of muscular, orthopaedic, and neurological conditions
